Project Description
Located in the heart of La Défense, Europe’s largest business district, the Passerelle de La Défense creates a vital pedestrian link between the western part of the district, behind the Grande Arche, and the Granite office tower. Curving elegantly around the Société Générale headquarters, the bridge combines a distinctive architectural appearance with an innovative structural concept, making it a striking addition to the urban landscape.
The bridge is supported by a total of four bearing points at its two ends. Structural stability is achieved through a system of diagonally arranged tension rods positioned along the exterior of the bridge, complemented by three prestressed ring cables located eccentrically beneath the deck. An inclined glass screen mounted on the outer side of the structure provides pedestrians with protection from wind while simultaneously enhancing the bridge’s spatial and architectural expression.
