The MERKUR SPIEL-ARENA is one of Germany’s premier multi-purpose venues, hosting international football matches, major concerts, trade fairs, and large-scale events. Featuring a fully retractable roof and a highly adaptable event concept, the stadium is recognized for combining architectural innovation with state-of-the-art engineering.
The roof of the arena can be closed by moving two large roof panels. The required technology for closing and retracting these steel elements had to be completely overhauled. PFEIFER Structures based the new operational and control system on its own hardware and software components.
